Kaya is a rich, creamy spread for toast made from coconut milk, cane sugar and cage-free eggs. The mixture is slow-cooked for hours following a traditional method and yields a smooth, scrumptious delight that can be used in many ways. Dairy-free salted caramel is used to add flavor and the all-natural dark amber color.Try it as a filling for cakes, pastries, crepes. Use it in recipes that call for jams or jellies to add the exotic flavors of Asia to your baking. For those of you who don't do dairy - rejoice! - you can have caramel again! It's dairy and gluten-free.
In 2015, I met Auria at the Summer Fancy Food Show in Manhattan and fell for her charming personality and her amazing Malaysian condiment line. RLC was still finding its footing and I did not add the product to the collection, but knew I eventually would. Fast forward to 2018, when I get the list of sofi award winners and see Auria's name pop up not once, but twice! I immediately emailed her and ordered a case of everything she makes. The flavors are authentic, not dumbed down to make it more marketable and while some describe her products as "weird," we all know that that's exactly the kind of stuff I am drawn to and add to the shop. And, we all know that I'm literally putting my name behind everything Riley/Land carries, so there's not a clunker in the bunch.
