First - let me be clear - any of these bowls could be used in the kitchen (obviously), but they are also perfect for the living room, dining room and so forth. Think of them more as the pieces of art that they are than just a vessel to use for salads.
Second - this Ambrosia Maple bowl is enormous. It's short and stubby, with nice, thick sides and a flat bottom. It makes the ideal Caesar Salad bowl. The quarter is in there so you can see the scope. One-of-a-kind piece; there's only one.
Third - to find a bowl this large is difficult. To find a bowl this large and handmade is even more so. To find a bowl this large, handmade and at this price? Unheard of. I will never claim to be a discount business, but I do know a good deal when I see one. And I make sure my bowls are priced so that anyone can afford them. This particular bowl would easily retail for $450 - $525 in larger retailers or on Etsy.
All of our wooden kitchenwares are handmade by a small family-owned business in rural Tennessee. It's a learned tradition, handed down from father to son and spans multiple generations. The vast majority of the pieces come from locally-sourced trees (often from my parents' farm), but every so often a more exotic piece of wood comes along and I get something from it. Most are exclusive to Riley/Land.
