They call them Lazy Susans. I have never been a fan of the name. It's always seemed that she was pretty intelligent, not lazy, to have come up with the concept. I have called it a "rolypoly," though, since childhood, so what do I know? This one is Black Walnut. I have them in two sizes: 16" and 20". I only have one of each to start, but they've sold well through my pop up shops for a couple of years. I felt it was time to add them to the website.
All of our wooden kitchenwares are handmade by a small family-owned business in rural Tennessee. It's a learned tradition, handed down from father to son and spans multiple generations. The vast majority of the pieces come from locally-sourced trees (often from my parents' farm), but every so often a more exotic piece of wood comes along and I get something from it.
