Handwoven and colored using vegetable dyes in Turkey, this towel - known as a pestemal - is fast-drying and ridiculously absorbent. They're made using 100% Turkish cotton (longer strands generate a softer, more plush product wash after wash) with hand-tied fringe on either end. Great for the beach, a trip to the sauna (or hammam), as a bath towel, a coverup on the airplane, a light blanket for TV watching, a tapestry for your wall, a wrap for a an early spring outing, and so on and so forth. I'm sure some enterprising young lady will end up wearing hers as a skirt or something.
This particular iteration is lightweight (less than 1 pound) and large (63" x 40"), with a collection of ocean green stripes on natural.
My kids refer to these as 'car blankies'-- several are rolled up in a basket in the living room and they seem to be pulled out and wrapped around shoulders on cool fall nights or early Sunday mornings when a light layer is all that you need. (Or on Arizona car trips when the air conditioning is cranked too high.) They wash beautifully and come out even softer, if that's possible!
