This family-owned business has been around since the 1960s, creating locally made, globally sourced spices and seasoning blends that celebrate the flavors of the world. In 2013, McKinley Thomason decided to create an offshoot brand that honored his father's memory and help the farmers who grow the herbs and spices they use, concurrently. He named the business J.M. Thomason (his father's name) and partnered with Heifer International to help Guatamalan farmers navigate the tricky world of business. For every can sold, they donate a small percentage to the non-profit. Thomason also, however, works behind the scenes to help these farmers push grant proposals, plant more trees, etc.
