Rice the second largest staple crop across the world, with 500 million tons cultivated annually, and less than 2 percent is produced in the USA. The overwhelming majority is grown in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, or Texas. That's why I specify that this rice is grown in Tennessee. Dyersburg, to be exact; a small town approximately 70 miles north of Memphis, with their farm along the banks of the Mississippi River. It's a family-owned farm that has been in operation for more than forty-plus years.

Basmati rice is known for its nutty flavor, low glycemic index, and natural lack of gluten. It's nutrient-rich, providing carbohydrates, folic acid and essential amino acids. Basmati is the perfect rice to accompany rich curries and spicy stews, but also lends itself easily to desserts like arroz con leche.
