Wooden Bench Scraper

A mainstay in many kitchens, a bench scraper is a versatile tool that works as a large spatula for lifting and flipping doughs, a knife for cutting and sectioning doughs, a broom for cleaning up crumbs, and also a shovel for scooping up freshly-chopped vegetables. It’s a workhorse in your kitchen and once you get accustomed to using it, you’re lost without it.

While most bench scrapers are stainless steel, we worked for months to develop this wooden version, with an edge roughly as sharp as our biscuit cutters, and a nice groove that fits your thumb perfectly, whether you’re a lefty or a righty.

The Riley/Land Collection is known for our wooden kitchenware. The roots of these pieces share history with the roots of my family - on our farm in rural Tennessee. The vast majority of the wood comes from one of our parcels of land. We believe in being as zero waste as possible, so we have developed ways to utilize nearly every cut of wood, even down to ensuring that the shavings find a new home in Raku firing or gardening mulch/compost.

The pieces we craft are made to last a lifetime, durable enough to use rather than to just sit on a shelf looking pretty. The grain, tone, and character of the wood are part of the design. Each piece is - quite naturally - one-of-a-kind.
