House BBQ Sauce - Summer 2026: sign up for next year’s batch
I make this bbq sauce once a year, hence the vintage. Once I’m sold out, I am out until the next spring. Add your name to the list to be notified for next year’s batch.
I'm someone who loves a good mash-up. Years ago, just after college, I worked as a server at Tony Roma's, a rib restaurant. They had four signature BBQ sauces - sweet, spicy, smoky and tangy. I always mixed some of each when I ate dinner there. Fast-forward to 2013. I had just opened RLC and wanted to add something that was "mine." A BBQ sauce came to mind. I reached out to a family friend and we discussed making some alterations to a sauce he had been shopping around for a while. He made the changes - creating a jar of BBQ sauce that is spicy/sweet/tangy/smoky all at once. And with that, we had a winner.
We never jumped through the hoops to make it an official product, so as my business grew, I couldn't sell it on a regular basis. I dropped it from the site. Then, my friend Emily came to me and asked where the BBQ sauce was and when we could get some more. She suggested a limited-edition situation and that's what we have done since. So, I make it once a year now. I take preorders so I have a concept of how many people will want. I design a new label. It’s a fun game.
Most people get a few jars so they have enough to last throughout the year. Some people buy a case. Some people buy one jar and then regret it.
