RLC No. 78 | Endless Summer
RLC No. 78 | Endless Summer
August - the time that summer feels both endless and fleeting; the days are still long, everything is green, the sound of cicadas dance around in the night air. But also, underneath that, you know that the barefoot beach days and late dusks will soon come to an end. You start to notice it more because you know it’s beginning to wane.
Endless Summer is an homage to that dichotomous time, when we pretend the freedom of summer isn’t about to come to an end. The image I chose for this label is reminiscent of vintage Condé Nast travel advertisements, which sold the fantasy of a life lived - however briefly - somewhere else. Endless Summer lives in that moment. Jasmine, tuberose, orange, honeysuckle and sage capture summer in a sun-drenched warmth that is reminiscent of open windows and dinner under the stars, beaches and top-down drives along the coast.
We all know that summer isn’t endless. But maybe that’s why we want it to be.
