Sometimes you want something that can live on your countertop. This large cutting board is perfect for folks who cook every night and have plenty of countertop space.
From cutting juicy steaks, to chopping onions, to using as a grazing board, the moat cutting board serves many purposes. The cutout, which runs along the outside edge of the board, collects any errant vegetables that try to escape from the board, as well as serves as a reservoir for juices you may want to save from, say, your holiday turkey. The opposite side has no groove, so you can you it however works best for each day.

The roots of these pieces share history with the roots of my family - on our farm in rural Tennessee. The vast majority of the wood comes from one of our parcels of land. We believe in being as zero waste as possible, so we have developed ways to utilize nearly every cut of wood, even down to ensuring that the shavings find a new home in Raku firing or gardening mulch/compost.
The pieces we craft are made to last a lifetime, durable enough to use rather than to just sit on a shelf looking pretty. The grain, tone, and character of the wood are part of the design. Each piece is - quite naturally - one-of-a-kind.
