Wooden Fufu/Oversize Spoonula

I was approached to make a utensil for making fufu and had several starts and stops along the way. There's no universal utensil for fufu, so I had to play around with the design (consulting with many Africans along the way). That resulted in the wooden spoonula. The fufu, however, is very long (17"), allowing torque while stirring the fufu, as well as keeping your hand out of reach of the piping-hot ingredients. The rounded backside of the handle makes it comfortable while mixing for long periods.

We believe in being as zero waste as possible, so we have developed ways to utilize nearly every cut of wood, even down to ensuring that the shavings find a new home in Raku firing or gardening mulch/compost.

The pieces we craft are made to last a lifetime, durable enough to use rather than to just sit on a shelf looking pretty. The grain, tone, and character of the wood are part of the design. Each piece is - quite naturally - one-of-a-kind.
